Hydraulic study Rur- crossings

General information

Client: Water board Eifel-Rur
Location: Germany
Project duration: 11/2021 - 01/2022
Key characteristics: 2D-hydraulics

Project description

The Water board Eifel-Rur (WVER) planned to cross the Rur at a total of three locations for the laying of pipelines under the Rur. For this purpose, sheet pile walls were placed in the Rur at the respective locations, which constricted the Rur from the left and from the right. In order to investigate the flood areas at HQ100 during the construction phases, hydraulic calculations were used to determine the extent of the effect of the respective constrictions.
Furthermore, a quasi-stationary discharge scale was used to determine the discharge at which the construction site in the respective constriction must be cleared because the sheet pile walls are dammed up too high.

Services

• Verification of the effect of the Rur constrictions on the floodplains at HQ100 during the construction phase, for the laying of pipelines under the Rur, by means of hydraulic calculations.
• Generation of a quasi-stationary discharge scale to determine at what point the sheet pile walls are dammed too high and thus the construction site must be cleared.

Skills

•Interpretation and evaluation of calculation results from 2D hydraulic modeling
